Salisu Yusuf, the Super Eagles’ first assistant coach, has included eight home-based players in the list of players who have been invited to play in international friendly matches in the United States of America against the ‘A’ Men National Teams of Mexico and Ecuador.
Goalkeepers Adewale Adeyinka (Akwa United) and Ojo Olorunleke (Enyimba) have made the provisional list, as have defenders Isa Ali (Remo Stars) and Ibrahim Buhari (Plateau United), midfielders Chiamaka Madu (Rivers United), Babatunde Afeez Nosiru (Kwara United), and forwards Victor Mbaoma (Enyimba) and (Rivers United).
The foreign legion, commanded by captain Ahmed Musa and his deputy, William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Shehu Abdullahi, Zaidu Sanusi, and Alhassan Yusuf of Royal Antwerp FC, Belgium, who is set to make his Super Eagles debut, are also on the 30-man roster.
On Saturday, May 28th, the three-time African champions will face CONCACAF superpower Mexico at AT & T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, before heading to New Jersey to face Ecuador at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison on Thursday, June 2nd.
Only 25 players will be named to the final list for the tour, which is a warm-up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone in Abuja (9 June) and So Tomé and Prncipe in Marrakech, Morocco (13th June).
