Like every other human being, footballers are prone to make mistakes, commit crimes and be punished for failing to abide to rules and regulations. 

In as much as they are famous and are role models to some many people, the spot lights on them can either mar or make them.

Today, We would be looking at five footballers that have actually killed someone before:
  1. Patrick Kluivert:

Patrick Stephan Kluivert is a Dutch former football player and coach who is the academy director of FC Barcelona. He is the former director of football for Paris Saint-Germain in France. Kluivert was the assistant manager of Cameroon.

Marcos Alonso Mendoza is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a left back or a wing back for Premier League club Chelsea and the Spain national team.

He started his career with Real Madrid but went on to make his name with Bolton Wanderers in England and later with Fiorentina in Italy.

Marcus Alonso was arrested in 2011 for his involvement in a car crash in Spain’s capital Madrid. Alonso was driving at 122kilometer per hour in wet conditions in a 50kilometer per hour road when he collided with a wall, killing one of the fellow passengers in the car, a 19-year-old woman.

Originally facing 4 years in prison, Alonso had his sentence reduced to 21 months. Charges was later dropped completely as he paid 500,000 euros as damages to the victim’s family.

Alexandre Villaplane was a French football player, who played in the role of midfielder. Villaplane was also a Nazi collaborator who was arrested and executed for his actions during World War II. In his career he played for FC Sète, Nimes Olympique, Racing Club de France, FC Antibes and OGC Nice.

The Algerian-born Frenchman, who even captained the French side in the 1930 World Cup committed heinous war crimes and directly killed more than 50 people during his life. Villaplane is mainly remembered for his extreme cruelty And brutality, having ordered 53 people to be executed in Mussidan.

After his recovery, there were calls from a local prosecutor to arrest him on three charges of manslaughterr, but the charges were never pursued.
