Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has donated food items to the needy in Jos, Plateau State.
Mikel donated bags of rice, beans and noodles to the less privileged in the North State.
The 33-year-old took to the social media to announce the donation.
“Together we can all help. Today in Jos. Where I grew up,” reads a post on his Instagram page with pictures of the items and a banner of Mikel wearing a Nigerian jersey.
He distributed 1800 crates of eggs to vulnerable households in Nigeria.
Mikel revealed that the distribution was carried out by his team, who left crates of eggs at the doorsteps of people’s houses.
“Helping people to survive in these difficult times my team today distributed 1800 cases of fresh eggs to some of the poorest areas in Nigeria close to the farm. Let’s all try and help one another in this global crisis in anyway possible,” he wrote on Instagram.
After playing 88 games and scoring six goals, the former Chelsea star called time on his international career last July after guiding the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
