Hans-Dieter Flick has had his Bayern Munich contract renewed to 2023, the sportsbay reports.

The coach had a contract to be assistant until 2021, but was then promoted into the main job after Niko Kovac was fired.

He has overseen 18 wins from 21 matches since becoming the head coach and will now be in charge for the foreseeable future.

“Bayernare very satisfied with Flick’s work,” chairmanKarl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a statement.

“The team has developed very well under him.

“They’re playing attractive football, which is also reflected in the results.

“We’re the only German club still present in all three competitions.

“In addition, I like the way he leads the team.

“His qualities as a person are convincing, he has empathy on his side.

“Bayern trust Flick and we’re convinced we’ll continue to achieve our goals with him in the future.”
