Nigeria Premier League side, IfeanyiUbah FC has asked its players to stay at home indefinitely following the COVID-19 pandemic, the sportsbay reports.
In a statement signed by the club’s media officer, Iyke Nwokedi, the earlier resumption date of Saturday, 4th April, 2020 was no longer feasible.
“We wish to inform our fans, ardent followers and indeed the general public that our earlier anticipated resumption date of Saturday, 4th April 2020 for the remainder of the 2019/2020 football season programme has been postponed till further notice.
“Recall that our players and officials had earlier embarked on a two-week break which came into effect from Saturday, 21st of March to terminate on Saturday, 4th April 2020 due to the four weeks suspension of all football activities by the nation’s football governing body, Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), owing to the outbreak of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“To this effect, we urge our players and officials to stay in shape even as we continue to monitor the situation while we implore you to observe all medical instructions and government directives regarding health and safety,” the statement said.
