Real Madrid will be without James Rodriguez for at least two months, after the Colombian suffered a break in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.
The midfielder, who opened scoring in their 2-1 win over Sevilla on Wednesday, appeared to suffer the injury in the 26th minute of play. He was later taken off and he went down the tunnel.
X-rays have confirmed the break in his foot and he has undergone surgery, that will see him miss crucial games for the La Liga giants.
It represents a double blow for Madrid, who are likely to be without Sergio Ramos and Marcelo for this weekend’s derby with Atletico Madrid. However, Carlo Ancelotti will be pleased to welcome back star man Cristiano Ronaldo from suspension.
