562 officials, athletes, journalists and other sports stakeholders will be representing Nigeria in Rabat, Morocco for the 12th African Games scheduled to begin on 16th August, 2019.
This was disclosed by Olusade Adesola, the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports while appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for the support given to Team Nigeria.
Adesola also urged athletes to give a good account of themselves at the Games.
“We thank Mr. President for the support given to Sports in the country. Contrary to the news going round that Nigeria will take a contingent of 650 to the African games, I want to inform that 562 Nigerian contingent will attend the African games in Rabat, Morocco.” Adesola said.
“Nevertheless, nothing is stopping Nigerians that have legitimate means to go to Morocco for the games. The embassy of Royal Kingdom of Morocco in Abuja has also assured that the country will not turn down genuine applications from Nigerians for visa to cheer Team Nigeria,” he added.
