Blessing Okagbare records 2nd fastest time in the world

Nigeria queen of the tracks, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, has emerged as the winner of Women’s 200m at Prefontaine Classic held in Standford, United States of America on Sunday.

She clocked 22.05secs to defeat Olympic 100m and 200m champion, Elaine Thompson, and double European Champion Dina Asher-Smith.

With her 22.05secs sprint in the women’s 200m, Okagbare recorded the second fastest time in the world after Thompson, who earlier ran 22.00s at the Jamaican Senior Championships.

In the Sunday Standford global athletics meet, Thompson ran 22.21m and Asher-Smith 22.42m.

The African record holder in 200m made her 60th appearance on the Diamond League circuit at the 2019 Rabat Diamond League in Morocco and also coasted to victory.
