Enyimba FC have emerged Nigeria Professional Football League champions following a 3-0 victory over Akwa United on Wednesday.
The champions have also picked a ticket to represent Nigeria at the 2020 CAF Champions League after recording an unassailable 12 points from five matches in the championship playoffs at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
Goals by Reuben Bala, Stanley Dimgba and Abdulrahman Bashir gave the two-time African champions a deserved win over Akwa United.
Meanwhile Kano Pillars have picked the second CAF Champions League ticket after defeating Lobi Stars 1-0 to finish the playoffs as first runner-up with 11 points.
The only goal of the game was scored by Ifeanyi Nweke from the spot kick.
Similarly, Enugu Rangers who defeated the whipping boys of the playoffs, IfeanyiUbah 4-2 have picked the ticket to represent Nigeria at CAF Confederations Cup after coming third with 8 points. They will be joined by the winner of the AITEO Cup
Enyimba are now Nigeria’s most successful club after they have previously won the championship in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2015
