The Chairman of Delta state Sports commission, Chief Tobobok Okowa has indicated interest to contest for the forthcoming Delta state football Association,DFA, Chairmanship position.

In an exclusive interview, he said he never intend to contest for the position but he was continually approached and advised by well meaning sports persons in the state to bring back the glory days to the DFA.

Okowa said he is willing to work with Edema Fuludu and other persons that are willing to work with him to develop football in the state after he finally accepted.

He assured that proper funding will no longer be a problem if he emerged as the winner because he will attract sponsors and friends to make it happen.

” In the review of the last 4 years where the sports commission left the FA fully in-charged of the current board the FA completely lost it glamour “.

” I found out that there is need to be directly involve to reposition the state FA like its glory days. And you will agree with me that the only position to go for is the chairman position”.

You may recall that Delta state football Association was flourishing during the days when Tobobok was the First Vice Chairman under Amaju Pinnick as Chairman of Delta state FA.

” The fact remains that back in theĀ  days when I was the first vice chairman to Amaju Pinnick,

there was peace among us. The state league was functional, thingsĀ  were going fine until we left it in the hands of those that suppose to run it better than when we left it but they couldn’t “.

” These are some reasons why am contesting to bring the glory days back”.

He said he will set up an avenue where all major stakeholders will be having a regular congress to discuss the way forward and a state where all professional private club owners will be carry along.

However, Edema Fuludu who is currently the acting under Augustine Okocha as chairman, said the election will he stage in Warri on Thursday June 13,2019 in a venue that will be communicated to all contestants
