The second match of the day of the Championship Playoffs of the Nigeria Professional Football League saw Kano Pillars playing out a 2-2 draw game with Akwa United.

It was a superb start for Kano Pillars as David Ebuka scored the first goal of the match in the 3rd minute at the Agege Stadium.

In the 31st minute, Akwa got back in the contest with Ndifreke Effiong heading in the equalizer which was however short lived.

Two minutes later, Pillars regained their lead as  Nyima Nwagua scored from a goal-mouth melee to make it 2-1.

In what seemed like festival of goals,Rafael Everton’s men scored another equalizer after exploiting Pillars’ aerial frailty to their benefit through Godspower Aniefiok in the 37th minute.

Efforts from both teams to score the winner in the second half as the game ended 2-2.

Meanwhile, Lobi Stars have made a good start to the playoffs following a 3-1 victory over IfeanyiUbah FC.

The Makurdi based club wasted no time to open scoring in the 2nd minute. Samad Kadiri rifled home an effort from close range after a deflected Kelly Kester pass had put him through on goal but in the 40th minute, IfeayiUbah equalized through Tega Ebetomame, glancing home Promise James’ free kick unmarked from close range.

At the restart of the second half, the 2018 champions increased the tempo of their game and were duly rewarded with two more goals from Samad Kadiri who scored his second goal of the night while Sikiru Alimi netted a brilliantly executed overhead kick from 16 yards to extend his side’s lead and secure all three points for his side.
