NPFL Super Six: Enyimba defeat Rangers in Oriental Derby

It was a winning start for Enyimba FC of Aba as they kick-started their Championship playoffs of the Nigeria Professional Football League with a 1-0 victory over Enugu Rangers on Tuesday.

The match dubbed Oriental Derby lived up to its billings at the Agege Stadium, Lagos saw the Aba Warriors creating better chances but were unable to find a breakthrough.

Shortly after the restart of the second half, Enyimba scored the first goal of this playoffs in the 49th minute.

Joseph Osadiaye brilliantly brought down Abalogu’s cross with his chest before volleying home from close range.

In a bid to get back into the game, Rangers coach Gbenga Ogunbote made two changes within three minutes, bringing on Ajani Ibrahim and Ifeanyi Egwim for Chidiebere Okolie and Roland Koffi respectively.

Enyimba looking to secure a very vital win played down the clock as they secured all three points.
