Nigerian Golden Eaglets on Wednesday defeated Angola by a lone goal to qualify for the semi-final in the ongoing U17 African Cup of Nations held in Tanzania.
A penalty scored by Olusegun Olakunle in the 21st minute saw the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria make it to the semi-final of the tournament, while booking a place in the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup scheduled to hold in Brazil later this year.
The Eaglets are the first team to qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup following their 1-0 win over Angola and would be making their 12th appearance at the FIFA U17 World Cup set to hold in Brazil.
Following the victory of Eaglets over Angola, Nigerian Football Federation congratulated the Eaglets in a tweet on Wednesday.
“Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets are through to the semifinal of the #TotalAFCONU17 and have picked a ticket for the #FIFAU17WC billed to be staged in Brazil later in the year. Congratulations to our Eaglets”, the tweet reads.
