Nigeria Football Coaches Association have congratulated former Super Eagles star, Emmanuel Amunike for leading Tanzania to their first Africa Cup of Nations finals in 39 years.
In a letter signed by its president, Ladan Bosso, the association also congratulated Emeka Amadi who is part of Tanzania technical crew.
“It is with great joy that I write to congratulate you and your able assistants especially our brother, colleague and member of our association coach Emeka Amadi on your team’s qualification to the African Cup of Nations with a well deserving 3 nil victory over Uganda.
“I must say that your hard work is indeed evidence to the entire continent and the world at large and as well as encourage you to keep flying our flag high with your good works,” he concluded.
The Taifa Stars thrashed group leaders Uganda 3-0 at the National Stadium on Sunday to finish second in Group L.
And Amuneke, the 1994 African Footballer of the Year and 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning coach, has described the ‘tough’ feat with Tanzania football as an honour.
“It was an honour to have been given the opportunity to achieve great things with Tanzania football and I’m proud that what we set out to do as our first objective has been met,” Amuneke wrote on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the NFF has congratulated the FIFA U17 World Cup –winning coach for becoming only the second Nigerian after Stephen Okechukwu Keshi (of blessed memory) to qualify another country for the Africa Cup of Nations.
