Nigeria’s second-tier football league starts April

Nigeria’s second-tier football league, the Nigeria National League (NNL) will commence on April 3rd as scheduled.

The league organisers in a circular sent to all state football associations and NNL clubs signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria National League (NNL), Lawrence Katken, the commencement of the league is on course.

The organisers had last week given the clubs directives to register their players with the deadline set for Thursday or risk being delisted from the league.

“This is to inform you that while the League Management is focused on the 3rd April 2019 as kick off date for the 2018/2019 League season, it is pertinent to once again remind all clubs that the 7 days grace for registration of clubs will expire on 27th March, 2019.

“In addition, all appeals on disciplinary matters in respect of players/venues as discussed in the AGA expire on 27th March, 2019. Concerned clubs are to ensure they meet these deadlines,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, club presidents have been invited to a crucial emergency meeting/draws taking place on Thursday, 28th March, 2019 in Abuja.

It will be recalled operators of one of the leading betting companies in Nigeria, K.C Gaming Network Ltd, popularly known as Bet9ja have pulled out of the sponsorship deal it entered with the Nigeria National League (NNL) after two years of supporting the league.
