The Ghanaian finished strongly with a (30) on the front nine to sit on top of the leaderboard at six under par, after nine holes, and struggled to return a level par ( 36 ) on the back nine to take the lead after round one.
Torgarh sits just one shot ahead his fellow compatriot Emos Koblarh who also finished with (67) (-5)under par, and also been trailed by Cristopher Francis and Magnus M. who are both tied for joint 3rd position after returning (68) 4 under par each.
The 32-year-old – who claimed his first title of the season on African Tour at the Eko Challenge Cup in lakowe lake’s Golf Estates last month – overcame windy conditions at the Arsenal Golf course Owerri, to set the early pace after round one.
