League champions, Lobi Stars have defeated MFM Fc 2-1 in a rescheduled Match Day 3 of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League.

The game played at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi earlier today saw the champions taking the lead through Dare Ojo’s strike in the 16th minute.

Twelve minutes later, the Olukoya Boys were back in the game when Chijioke Akuneto expertly finished Ohanu’s pass to level the score at one apiece.

At the restart of the second half, the home side turned up the heat on their visitor, creating chance upon chance without converting any of them with MFM goal tender, Olatunji Odekunle at his best.

However, in the 70th minute, Odekunle was unable to stop the homeside from breaching his goal as Lobi took the lead through Monsuru Bashiru’s strike to help his side secure all three points.

With this victory, the Makurdi based side climb up the Group A table on 11 points from six games played in the league.

It will be noted Lobi Stars have been involved in continental matches and have two more outstanding league games.

Meanwhile, MFM remain top of the table with 18 points despite the loss to Lobi.
