A rejuvenated Akwa United have vowed to comprehensively defeat IfeanyiUbah FC when both sides meet on Wednesday in Match Day 10 of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League.
In a chat with the media officer of Akwa United, Mr Mfom Patrick, he acknowledged the slow start of the team but praised the team for turning the ugly tide around.
“We started very badly, we played four matches and out of possible twelve points, we had only two points.
“Fans were disappointed and we needed to pick ourselves up. Now you see what has happened. We have gone four matches unbeaten.
“IfeanyiUba is a great club but they will not escape us in Uyo on Wednesday. They should come and receive their own share of defeat from us. We have picked up ourselves and things are working right for us,” he said.
He however berated the Nigeria’s electoral body for the postponement of the elections.
“But immediately my club Akwa United learnt the elections will not hold, though we had originally scheduled our training for Sunday (today), we had to move it to today (Saturday) and train at the Nest of Champions,” he said.
He further stated that the Brazilian coach, Rafael Everton has not been under any form of pressure since his appointment last year.
“He is getting the results we wanted and of course there are many matches to play and we will get the results. There is no pressure,” he concluded.
