The Match Day 7 of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League saw former champions, Enyimba tasting their third defeat of the season, losing by a lone goal to host, Wikki Tourist at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

It was a dream start for Enyimba when Abdulrahman Bashir opened scoring in the 10th minute after the center referee had ruled out the goal scored by Wikki for offside.

Down by a goal early in the game increased the tempo from the home side who found the back net in the 28th minute through Abba Umar.

Shortly after the restart of the second half, the hosts took the lead as Umar tapped in a rebound to get his brace which secured all three points for Bauchi based club.

In Lafia, Nasarawa United dispatched Plateau United with renewed vigour in a 2-0 victory.

From the blast of the whistle, the home side wasted no time and were duly rewarded with a goal in the 7th minute through Sunusi Ibrahim who benefited from a poor defending by Plateau to score.

Expectedly, the home side continued to dominate proceedings and doubled the lead in the 54th minute when Adeshola Johnson headed in a Sunusi Ibrahim’s assist.

However, Emmanuel Odafe pulled one back for Plateau at the death in a goal scramble but was not enough to prevent a second defeat for the 2017 champions.

In Damaturu, Brazilian coach, Rafael Everton led his team, Akwa United to an important victory away to Yobe Desert Stars.

Mfon Udoh’s 25th minute header was enough to secure all three points for the Promise Keepers.

In Minna, Niger Tornadoes secured a 1-0 victory over visiting Sunshine Stars through Awwal Tanko.
