Confed Cup: Enugu Rangers draw first blood, defeat Salitas

Enugu Rangers have begun their campaign at the group stage of CAF Confederation Cup with a 2-0 victory over Salitas FC of Burkina Faso.

The match which took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday saw goals from Godwin Aguda and Isaac Loute securing all three points from their first game.

Aguda opened the scoring as early as 2nd minutes of the game which allowed the Flying Antelopes to firmly control the game.

The Nigerian side piled pressure on their guest resulted in a freekick that was beautifully converted by defender, Isaac Loute.

The group’s other game; a Tunisian derby between Etoile du Sahel and CS Sfaxien will hold later on Sunday evening (5pm local time) at the Olympic Stadium in Sousse.

The 2018 AITEO Federation cup champion will test their might against the highest ranked team in the competition Etoile du Sahel as well as CS Sfaxien, both from Tunisia in Group B with Burkina Faso side Salitas FC completing the group.

They will then travel to Tunisian side CS Sfaxien before meeting group favourites Etoile du Sahel in a doubleheader fixture on February 24 and March 3 in Sousse and Enugu respectively.
