Niger Tornadoes have suffered yet another defeat following a 1-0 loss to Enugu Rangers away in a rescheduled Match Day 1 Nigeria Professional Football League match.

The home side dominated proceedings from the blast of the whistle but were only able to score just a goal which was scored by Bright Silas in the 33rd minute of the match.

Silas’ strike first goal on his first start of the season was enough to claim 3 points for the Flying Antelopes at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

It was a cagey affair in Damaturu but Yobe Desert Stars held on to Abdullahi Usman’s early goal until the end of the game to claim their 2nd win of the season.

There were wasteful moments from the away side with Adamu Mohammed being the major culprit who failed to even the scores in the 77th minute when he was played through with only the keeper to beat.

Similarly, Bendel Insurance return to the Premier League has so far been disastrous as the Edo side are also yet to win a game, losing by a lone goal to Wikki Tourists.

The game which was played in Gombe saw the away side thriving to win their first match to no avail.

However, Wikki’s Sulaiman Muhammed capitalised from a defensive error by Insurance to volley into a vacant post in the 51st minute.

The away side could have gone down further but for the goalkeeping exploits of Amas Obasogie who superbly blocked Wikki’s two attempts on target in quick succession.

In Rivers, it was believed the match between Rivers United and Remo Stars would end in a stalemate but Wasiu Jimoh had other plans.

At the death, Jimoh slided home to give the home side the three points to push his side to top of Group A table on eight points closely followed by Enugu Rangers who are six points. Niger Tornadoes are deeply rooted at the bottom of the group with three points.
