The final of the 2018 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super-4 will hold on Sunday at Agege Stadium, Lagos, following Friday’s start to the contest at same venue.
NWFL officials said time constraint occasioned the resolve to have the matches hold on straight knock-out format, in contrast to last season, when the competition in Benin City, Edo State took a round-robin format that was won by Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia.
The reigning champions of the NWFL, Nasarawa Amazons defeated AITEO Cup champions, Rivers Angels to set up a Super 4 final clash with Bayelsa Queens.
Nasarawa Amazons edged Rivers Angels 5-3 on penalties following an entertaining encounter at the Agege Soccer Temple in Lagos after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Earlier in the day, the first game of the tournament saw 10-man Bayelsa Queen progress to the final of the NWFL Super 4 at the expense of Sunshine Queens.
While Saturday is rest day, Sunday will be very busy with the third place match at 2pm and final scheduled to kick-off 4pm, all at the arena that is now style Temple of Soccer.
