| |

El-Kanemi Warriors on Thursday evening defeated Nasarawa United 1-0 during the Match Day 4 of the Nigeria Professional Football League match.

The game played in Maiduguri saw the home team dominating proceedings for the greater part of the match but were unable to score a compact Nasarawa United defence.

The first half ended with one notable chance from El-Kanemi’s Ali Aliyu whose efforts landed on the roof of the net.

At the restart of the second half, the home side continued from where they stopped in the first half with the away side defending with bodies behind the ball.

Mohammed Baba Ganaru side resorted to long-balls but nearly paid for not making use of their possession but for goalkeeper Michael George coming to rescue in the 89th minute.

However, the never-die-spirit of the Warriors paid off in the added time as substitute Anthony Sunday shot from outside secured all three points.

Following this victory, El-Kanemi climbs up to the second position with three wins out of four games so far while Nasarawa United remain rooted at the 10th position.
