The captain of Team Delta Women’s Volleyball team, Priscilia Agara has said that she did not win gold because of the one million naira promised the team by His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State.

She disclosed this after the team defeated Team Lagos Women’s Volleyball 3-0 in straight sets to smile to the podium to be crowned with the gold medal, as she noted that the team were in camp early enough and they worked and prepared very well to finish strongly with the gold medal.

“It was great winning the gold medal. Delta state government prepared the team very well and we ended up winning the gold medal.” Agara said.

“Winning the gold medal was not just about the N1m promised us by the Governor. We were committed in making sure we did our best on the court. We had a great team spirit among ourselves.

I will also admit that N1m motivated us, but we worked hard and had a great team spirit and these made us to win Lagos state in the final.

“Team Lagos is a good team and you can see us calling for time out whenever they want to get the momentum over us,” she said.
