Edo, Kaduna, 2 others indicate interest to host 2020 National Sports Festival

The Minister of Youths and Sports Development Barr. Solomon Dalung on Tuesday has revealed that four states have expressed their interests to host the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival in 2020.

Dalung made this known while speaking to newsmen after inspecting some of the games being played at the Package A of the Abuja National Stadium yesterday.

“We have already received an expression of interest from Edo, Kaduna, Cross River, and Delta but what I have developed as a standard rule will not go under the way of history where we are coming from” he reveals

“One of the challenges which made Cross Rivers not to host was that the governor who got the hosting rights was in his terminate days which handed over to a new person and he could not pick up from there so we are looking forward not to make such mistakes again.

“We will make sure that the decision of the next host will be safeguarded,” he declared.

He further stated that plans are on the ground to secure the needed funds for the next edition of the festival

“We have institutionalized the National sports festival through the partnership with the private sector and then the creation of multipurpose medium where a company has being incorporated.”

“All the fund that is going to be made and co-funding from the ministry will be going into the account of that company, so the company will secure all the funding before the games so as to avoid problems,” he concluded.
