In the same vein, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Barrister Emma Okah had said the government has released all the allowances and emoluments.

However, in a bid to find out if the monies has actually been paid, our correspondent met with a rowing coach, Eric Williams revealed that the money has been released but they have not been paid yet.

“We haven’t been paid, but I strongly believe we will be paid anytime from now,” he revealed.

Our correspondent also met with an athlete in the contingent on the condition of anonymity also confirmed that the money has been released by the state government.

“Yes they have released the funds but I have no idea what’s going on. They haven’t given us camping allowance, no facilities or equipment for us to train.

“We haven’t been paid our allowances since the Games started, we have just been surviving on our personal funds, he concluded.

It will be recalled that the Team Rivers arrived Abuja late on Thursday evening and missed the parade and March past of the opening ceremony as a result, fueling speculations they may have already boycotted the event, and media reports on Saturday claimed they had threatened to withdraw.
