Torch of Unity arrives Abuja tomorrow ahead of NSF opening ceremony

The National Sports Festival 2018 Torch will arrive Abuja Thursday, 6th of December 2018 and be received at the City Gate by the minister of sports, Solomon Dalung.

The Torch also known as ‘The Festival Torch’ will be received by Abaji Area Council chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya at the the popular Giri junction around 11:00 am, who will honourably present the torch to his Kwali Area Council countrparts, Mr Joseph K. Shazim at the University of Abuja main gate.

Gwagwalada Area Council chairman, Hon. Adamu Mustapha Danze would receive the Torch of Unity from Mr Joseph Shazim at the Kuje junction before handing it over to Kuje Area Council chairman, Mr. Abdulrahman Galadima at Lugbe junction.

Galadima will in turn hand it to Bwari Area Council chairman, Mr Musa Dikko at Chika junction before Abuja Municipal Area Council chairman, Malam Abdullahi Candido receive and give it to FCT Director of Sports Department, Mrs. Dilichukwu Onyendinma at the Unity Gate.

Dilichukwu will as well give the torch to Social Development Secretariat Secretary, Barr. Amanda Iyabode Pam who in turn will hand it to Permanent Secretary Ministry of FCT, Sir. Chinyeaka C. Ohaa.

Chinyeaka will hand the festival torch to Hon. Minister of FCT, Malam Musa Muhammed Bello.

The FCT minister will make a 50 meters lap and hand it over to the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Barr. Solomon Dalung who will give it to the Main Organising Committee (MOC) chairman and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports , Adeshola Olushade.

The movement of the Festival Torch within Abuja which starts 11:00 am will end by 2:00pm.

In the evening, the 2108 National Sports Festival’s opening ceremony kicks off with displays and march past by all participating athletes.

The 19th National Sports Festival tagged ‘Abuja 2018’ will be held from December 6–16, in Abuja.
