We will take Nigeria local football to the next level – Sunshine Stars owner, Akinyemi

The President of Sunshine Queens, Rising Stars of Akure, Otunba Tajudeen Akinyemi has revealed that the League Management Company and the club owners are poised to take the local league to the next level, The SportsBay reports.

He made this known while speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Otunba Akinyemi “There is no level of deficiency, there is unity between us to take Nigeria football to the next level. Yes, there were few mistakes here and there but that has been corrected,” he asserted.

He also expressed his excitement at the recent victory of his team in the Gold Cup Preseason Tourney.

He stated that it had been a long while the club experienced the euphoria surrounding victories while describing the victory as a long sought and deserved win.

“This victory was so sweet, it has been indeed   a long sought victory, it has been a while since we had any victory.

“The re-organization of the club. A lot of changes has been made and this evidently led to the winning ground.

Affirming the club’s zeal to continue to do well and represent the country continental, Otunba said, “winning this gold is not the least, we will continue to do all in our capacity to ensure that we make this country proud.

“This would also be feasible with strident efforts made by the government in sports, with the help of sponsors who have pledged to make notable contributions to this club, I am positive that we will maintain the winning stride”.

It will be recalled that the Akure-based club emerged champions of the 6th edition of Gold Cup Preseason Tourney after recording a 1-0 victory over Kwara United recently.

The Kabiru Dogo side went home with a cheque of Three Hundred Thousand Naira and trophy while the Bala Abubakar’s boys got a sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira for finishing as runners up.
