The Technical Director of the Nigeria Gymnastics Federation, Tony Asuquo has urged sports administrators to put away their self-seeking interest in the overall interest of sports development.
While speaking to Daily Trust, Asuquo stated that except administrators come together and pursue a common goal, the country will remain in the doldrums regardless of the abundance of talented gymnasts who can set and break world records.
“The gymnasts are doing very well but what is left now is for the administrative arms to up their game because they are lacking behind if the board members can come together as one, then we look at what it meant to be done right, we are not going to competing in the world but we are going to be breaking records.”
“We should not be going for Bronze or sliver even gold we should be breaking records in the world because have the talents that can make Nigeria proud within the federation “he opined
Asoquo who is also the head coach for Tony International Gymnastics Team (TIG) has constantly maintained the need of getting the right equipment, so as to enhance Gymnastics in Nigeria.
“We do not have the right equipment in Nigeria but if we strategize ahead of competitions, if we are not ready we should not go for competitions to that we do not mess up ourselves because Nigeria is big country, so we need to go and represent our country well” he concluded
