Former Nigeria’s U-17 manager, John Obuh has tipped the Super Eagles of Nigeria to defeat the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in the 2019 AFCON qualifying series.
In a chat with him, the former Kwara United manager believes the Gernot Rohr led team have the quality and capacity to qualify of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon.
“From the players that have been invited, I think they have the quality to give us victory”, he noted.
According to him, it is important for the Super Eagles to defeat the Libyans in the two-legged qualifying series to stand a very good chance of qualifying prior to the match against South Africa.
“I know quite Libya are leading us and that is a disadvantage to us but we must look at the table before we go for the match knowing fully well that any mistakes we will have problems in qualifying”.
“I want to believe the boys want to go further from where we are as it today. After Libya we are coming to play South Africa. It is very important we defeat Libya so that the standing can give us an advantage”, he said.
We are going to qualify and we can see that from the way things have been going for some time now.
Similarly, the General Secetery, Nigeria Football Federation, Mohammed Sanusi has revealed that CAF wanted the match between Nigeria and Libya played on a Friday.
According to him while speaking with THE SPORTSBAY, the NFF had to write the African football body requesting the match day be shifted to Saturday.
He further stated that it was the prerogative of the host nation and in this case, Nigeria to determine the match day.
It will be noted that Nigeria is set to play host to Libya on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
