Nigeria’s women basketball team D’Tigress will be looking forward to record their second victory against Argentina in the ongoing 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Tenerife Spain.
With the South Americans already eliminated from the tournament, the Nigerians will be looking to inflict more woes on Argentina today by 5:30pm Nigerian time.
D’Tigress lost their first match against Australia 68-86 on Saturday in a Group B encounter but picked themselves up to defeat Turkey 74-68 to record their first ever win in the World Cup.
28 year old guard, Sarah Ogoke while speaking to fiba.com promised that the victory was just the beginning.
“It’s not over yet and we’re just getting started, I’m not satisfied at all because to me it’s a big win, but we can’t feel comfortable until we beat Argentina and move into the next round.
“I have been playing on the national team for a while now and felt that I had a point to prove and Nigeria also had a point to prove. We’re not your typical African basketball country.”
“We have a lot of talent on this team and we have a lot of experience and we finally got the chance to show it,” she said.
Nigeria currently occupy the second place and are seeking to hold on to that position against third-placed Turkey.
In Group B, Australia is up to 2-0, Turkey and Nigeria are tied at 1-1 while Argentina is stuck at 0-2.
