The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side Enyimba FC are through to the semi-finals of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup following a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Rayon Sports of Rwanda in their quarterfinal second leg fixture played yesterday.
The Aba warriors had secured an away goalless draw in the first leg against Rayon Sports played in Rwanda last week.
The Usman Abdallah led team playing at the renovated Aba International Stadium drew the first blood through Stanley Dimgba following poor defending by Rayon in the 12th minute. However, the away side pulled a goal back in the 25th minute through Bonfils Caleb to silence the home crowd.
Enyimba left-back and Flying Eagles captain, Ikouwem Udoh however put the hosts back in the lead four minutes later, tapping in a decent strike as they held on to a slender advantage until the halftime break.
Enyimba struck again at the restart to make it 3-1 through striker Sunday Adetunji.
Joseph Osadiaye compounded Rayon’s woes by scoring the 4th goal and defender Isiaka Oladuntoye headed in from a goalmouth scramble to end the rout.
With this victory, Enyimba FC who have won 7 out of their 8 home games in this competition will face the winners of the game between CARA Brazzaville or Raja Casablanca in the semi-final of the competition.
