Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will finalise their rematch this week, with two dates believed to be under consideration.
The pair, who announced the fight on Saturday, look set to clash in early December in Las Vegas.
Ring Magazine reports that Dec.1 and Dec.8 are both potential options for fight promoters, and an official announcement could come as early as this week.
Floyd Mayweather says a rematch of his much-hyped 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao is in the works for this year, posting a video of him jawing with Pacquiao and saying he is eyeing a December fight.
Mayweather posted on Instagram Saturday, saying, “I’m coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year another 9 figure pay day on the way.”
Mayweather made about $220 million from his May 2015 fight with Pacquiao and at the time posted a photo of a $100 million check — his guaranteed purse from the bout.
Saturday’s Instagram posting includes a video of Mayweather and Pacquiao talking to each other at a music festival in Tokyo, although it is difficult to hear what the men are saying.
In another angle of the interaction, Pacquiao tells Mayweather, “I have the belt,” to which Mayweather responds, “I’m going to take it from you like I did before.”
Pacquiao later confirmed the news in an interview with reporters in his native Philippines. “We will finalise the fight this week, either Mayweather or somebody else, where and when, what date,” he said.
Mayweather comfortably beat Pacquiao in their first head-to-head back in 2015, but is yet to fight in this year.
He beat Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor in Aug.2017 in his last appearance in the ring.
