He also revealed that the facilities in the National Stadium in Abuja will undergo massive uplift as the city prepares for the National Sports Festival in December.
He stated this while speaking to newsmen on the sidelines after the unveiling of the Games mascot.
While expressing his happiness at the revival of the Games, he said he was sad at the beginning of his tenure.
According to him, “When I became the sports minister, for about three years then, there was no festival. I felt terribly bad knowing what the Sports Festival is to the sports development, he said.
“With money there is nothing you cannot do even within the shortest period of time. I think time is the problem than the release of funds. As soon as funds are released, we will begin the massive upgrade of the National Stadium, he revealed.
He further blamed the neglect of the Sports Festival is for the decline of the National Youth Games.
In a sign of humility, he requested that his achievements as the nation’s sports minister should be accessed when he quits and vows to leave the ministry better than he met it.
“I don’t believe in singing praises of achievement. It is for prosperity to judge, he quipped.
On the leadership crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation, Dalung revealed that he has decided that he won’t talk too much on the crisis while working underground to ensure the crisis ends in the federation.
He however urged the warring factions to submit themselves to the peaceful means of addressing the crisis which began the removal of Kojo Williams about 20 years ago.
