Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has named five players from the Nigerian Professional Football League among the list of 18 Super Eagles who will play the Lone Star of Liberia in an international friendly in Monrovia on Tuesday.
Enyimba FC’s trio of Mfon Udoh, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Sunday Adetunji, Adeleye Olamilekan of FC IfeanyiUbah and Ebube Duru of Lobi Stars will have the chance to impress the coaching crew for starting berths.
Udoh who led Enyimba to the CAF Confederations quarter finals will be rejoining the Eagles for the first time in three years while Duru will prove to be a potential contender for left-back position after his impressive performance against Atletico Madrid in a friendly match recently.
It is expected that the four home based players bar goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa who travelled with the team to Seychelles for Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Pirates to report at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos on Monday, 10th September, latest by 3pm.
Ezenwa and the 13 other players would fly into Lagos from Addis Ababa on Monday, before the contingent is flown to Monrovia on Monday night aboard an ARIK Air plane.
The match is earmarked in celebration of Liberian President and former World Footballer of the Year, George Weah and is scheduled for Tuesday evening at the 35,000 –capacity Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
