Rivers United FC has felicitated with the Chairman of Enyimba FC, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu following the honour bestowed on him by the Abia State government.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu during the 27th anniversary of the creation of Abia State at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia on Monday, 27th August 2018 honoured Anyansi-Agwu with the state’s second highest honour.
Anyansi-Agwu, a ranking member of the NFF Executive Committee, is the most successful club football administrator in Nigeria with dozens of trophies from different competitions since he started managing the People’s Elephant 20 years ago.
According to statement from the Media Officer of Rivers United, Sammy Wejinya the General Manager of the club, Chief Dr. Okey Kpalukwu noted that the latest accolade bestowed on Chief Anyansi-Agwu was well deserved.
He noted that the erudite gentleman is a reference point of football administration in Nigeria following his numerous achievements and sound track record.
“Chief Anyansi-Agwu is a Man of distinguished qualities and I’m in no doubt that the Abia State Government has scored an A by conferring this honour to a proud and effective son of the State,” Chief Kpalukwu.
“Hopefully, this will spur him to do even more in the area of excellence in football administration.
“I want to use this medium to congratulate the Abia State Government and Chief Anyansi-Agwu for this development which clearly illustrates that good and hard work will always be rewarded,” Chief Kpalukwu concluded.
Enyimba FC is Nigeria’s only remaining club in continental competition this year, and apart from several other feats, has won the Nigeria top division title seven times, including a hat-trick on the trot between 2001 and 2003, and took the Federation Cup title in 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2014.
