Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed how he was able to get his favourite shirt number was held by Juan Cuadrado while revealing what his teammate said when he asked him for Juve’s No. 7 jersey.
The 33-year-old has now opened about about the brief chat he had with Cuadrado about the number.
“You know, it’s my favourite number and I spoke with the club at the beginning, and, of course, I spoke with (Juan) Cuadrado because he was number 7,” Ronaldo told DAZN, who recently announced him as their new global brand ambassador.
“He said, ‘No problem. It will be a pleasure for me to give you my number 7’, my shirt. So, it was good.
“I’m surprised, in a good way, as the club helped me and, of course, Cuadrado, he took it very well.
“So I’m really glad to continue with my number 7.”
Cuadrado has since taken up the No. 16 shirt, and both players started in Juve’s dramatic 3-2 opening day win over Chievo last weekend.
