Mo Salah delights Syrian refugee Liverpool fan with a signed shirt

Egyptian superstar, Mohamed Salah has continued to put smiles on people’s faces as he has done in the last 12 months after he joined Liverpool.

But one supporter left with an especially big grin was 16-year-old Anmar Halabi who got to meet the Egyptian forward during Liverpool’s tour of the United States ahead of the new Premier League season.

Anmar is fighting muscular dystrophy and he and his family have lived in the US in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the past two years since arriving as refugees from Syria.

Salah gave Anmar a signed Liverpool shirt and spent time with him and his siblings Mahmoud, Luay and Bayan, and parents Rawda and Yaser.

Of meeting Salah, Anmar told Liverpool’s website: “Everybody loves him and I want to be like him. He is a great person. It’s a really great feeling.”

The visit was partly arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Liverpool have now returned to Europe as they prepare for the new Premier League season, with their opening game being against West Ham United on Anfield on August 11.
