Following the conclusion of the 21st FIFA World Cup won by France on Sunday, the League Management Company has announced the resumption of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on July 18.
It will be recalled that, the league went on break on June 2 ahead of the World Cup finals in Russia.
According to a statement issued prior to the break from the league organisers, “Most of the leagues still on at the time of the World Cup will only be running on the special permission of FIFA, like the league in Ghana which started late because of several issues.”
Meanwhile, players across the clubs in the league have resumed training ahead of the league resumption.
Lobi Stars, Akwa United, Kano Pillars, Enyimba and Plateau United who occupy the first five positions in the league table have been involved in friendly matches in order to get the players in tune for the remaining matches of the season.
Clubs such as Heartland who are currently battling with relegation are putting finishing touches on how to navigate their way out of troubled waters and escape damnation.
Akwa United who are second on the table will travel to Ilorin to engage Kwara United when the league resumes next month while Katsina United will travel to Omoku in Rivers State to keep a date with NPFL new comers Go Round in NPFL Matchday 25.
