La Liga giants, Barcelona have reportedly made Chelsea winger Eden Hazard their number one transfer target this summer.
Hazard has publicly stated that he will not rule out a move away from Stamford Bridge unless the uncertainty over their managerial situation is resolved, with Maurizio Sarri still expected to take charge despite Antonio Conte taking pre-season training so far.
The Belgian has also called on Chelsea to sign new players in order to match his ambition, while keeping the door open for a move to Real Madrid.
Hazard is understood to be seen as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu, but Sport reports that the European champions could face competition for his signature from their bitter Clasico rivals.
Barcelona are reportedly ready to make a £100m bid for the 27-year-old, having cooled their interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen in order to focus on Hazard.
Another danger to this deal is Real Madrid. Los Blancos, who lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus this week, appear to be focusing their interest on the PSG players Neymar and Mbappe.
If they fail to land either one of those, which seems likely as PSG refuse to negotiate the sales of their stars, Hazard would then move to the top of Florentino Perez’s wishlist.
Barcelona are aware that if Madrid enter the race for Hazard it’ll be very difficult to close the deal but, for now, things are moving in the right direction.
