Following the 1-1 draw against Nigeria Nationwide League side Ibom Youth FC at the Uyo Township Stadium on Wednesday, Nigeria Professional Football League side, Akwa United were unable to defeat Akwa Starlet on Thursday.
In the Day 2 of the tournament, the Premier League side who have arguably been the most successful club in the Southern Nigerian state of Akwa Ibom, started brilliantly and in the 5th minute of action, Boniface Mathew opened the scoring with a screamer which was the only goal in the first 45 minutes.
The second half has been very lively with both teams creating and missing good goal scoring opportunities, however in the 78th minute, the Akwa Starlet levelled the score line.
The Akwa Ibom State Super Four Tournament which is played in a round-robin format will see the team with the highest number of points emerging as the winner and it features four teams: Akwa United, Akwa starlet, Ibom youth F.C, and Cofine F.C.
Each team will play three matches respectively. The Club which ends up with the highest points will be awarded a Gold-plated trophy.
The Promise Keepers are now on 2 points behind table toppers Akwa Starlets who defeated Cofine FC 2-1 in the first game of the competition and are with four points.
The maiden edition of the Round-robin tournament which is meant to prepare the State’s representative clubs in the different leagues of the country after an 18-day FIFA World Cup break began on Wednesday July 4 and to end on Friday, July 6, 2018.
