Bafana Bafana of South Africa captain, Thulani Hlatshwayo has ruled out any possibility of intimidation from the Super Eagles when both sides meet on Saturday.
The two countries will meet in Uyo on Saturday in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and Hlatshwayo said that they understand Nigeria, they were psyched up to go all the way.
Speaking to Sowetan online paper on Tuesday, the captain said that he was honoured to lead his mates against Nigeria.
“We will not (be intimidated). We played Nigeria in Nigeria before and we know what to expect. We did well‚” the centreback said.
“It is not as if we are disrespecting them but we are not going to be intimidated by them.”
He admitted that Nigeria‚ who preserved their unbeaten record in competitive matches against them ‚ will be on the rebound having been denied a place at the 2015 Cup of Nations by South Africa.
We know we are smaller than them as players‚ so we don’t want to play the long ball but catch them on the counter because they are big‚ but a bit slow.
“It is a going to be a grudge game against them. Knowing Nigerians‚ that’s how they are. They do have that arrogance they carry around.
“We have to be humble and make sure we don’t give Nigeria too much respect‚ and not be scared of them.”
