football agent representing Barcelona star, NeymarJnr, Wagner Ribeiro has been sentenced to five years in jail for tax fraud, as he was found guilty of doctoring his income tax declarations from 2002 to 2005.
According to the findings of the court, Ribeiro said he earned 580,000 reals during the period in question, when he actually earned 4.3 million reals.
Wagner Ribeiro is expected to appeal the decision, although that will have consequences.
The football agent will need to hand in his passport to local authorities as he’s banned from leaving the country.
Ribeiro has defended his tax declarations claiming he owed loan repayments to a company which he also owns. The court dismissed that defence as a sham.
Aside from being involved in Neymar’s move to Barcelona, Ribeiro has also been involved in Gabigol’s move to Inter Milan, while he has also been linked to the recent deal taking Vinicius Junior to Real Madrid.
He also works with Brazilian stars Robinho and Lucas Lima.
