I Will Not Jeopardise Arsenal To Keep Sanchez – Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he is unwilling to jeopardise the club to keep star player, Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates.

Sanchez, 28, runs out of contract at the end of next season and has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium following Arsenal’s dismal campaign, with top Premier League rivals and some of Europe’s giants, as well as clubs in the Chinese Super League – reportedly interested in his securing his signature.

However, Wenger, whose future is also in doubt following the expiration of his contract this summer, has said he isn’t ready to destabilize his dressing room by meeting the excessive demands of the star forward, Goal writes.

“We have to consider our financial potential, to sustain the wages for the whole squad,” Wenger said Friday.

“You have many different opinions there. Some people tell me, ‘just give him what he wants’.

“But then you cannot respect anymore the wage structure, and you put the club in trouble as well.”

Wenger insists that the Chilean, whose 18 goals and nine assists have seen him nominated for the PFA player of the Year Award, would have to set his priorities right and choose between a big deal and big football.

“Every club and every player has to make decisions. Where are your priorities? Where do you want to play?” he said.

“The first priority for top players is to play with the best players and in the best league. After that, it is not about choosing to go to China because you earn big money. You make big money in England as well.

“You have the best combination of playing at the top and big money is in England, at the moment. So, for me, China is not a debate.”
