13 states remain without medals while Delta collects 80

Thirteen states competing in the ongoing 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State, have failed to win a single medal as of the time of publication, thesportsbay.com reports.

The states include Ebonyi, Cross River, Borno, Adamawa, and Bauchi. Others include Zamfara, Gombe, Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Yobe, Kaduna, Enugu, and Gombe.

According to the medal table, 23 states and the FCT collectively earned 286 medals, including 81 gold, 78 silver, and 127 bronze medals.

The host state and defending champions, Delta State, are currently in first place with a significant lead after earning 80 medals, including 43 gold, 22 silver, and 15 bronze. Ogun State is in second place with 18 medals, including 7 gold, 5 silver, and 15 bronze.

Oyo State comes in third with six gold, eight bronze, and six silver medals, followed by Abia in fourth with five gold, one silver, and five bronze.

The FCT is rated 15th with 4 medals, which includes 2 silver and 2 bronze, while Kano, the highest-ranked northern state, is ranked 9th with 13 medals, including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze.
