Wes Morgan, the captain of Leicester City, urges his teammate Riyad Mahrez to stick with the EPL title owners, despite numerous offers from top clubs. The Leicester City winger has been heavily linked with a move away from Leicester.
PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez is ready to quit Leicester City despite the Foxes hoping to tie him to a new and improved contract. Mahrez who was signed from La Havre scored 17 goals and recorded 11 assists as Leicester won the title.
Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Mahrez. According to Daily Telegraph, the EPL champions have slapped a £45 million price tag on Mahrez as they look to ward off interest from top clubs. And Morgan, who recently signed a new three-year deal said: “I know there’s a lot of talking going off but hopefully everybody can follow in my footsteps.
We want to maintain our key players and build on that with the new players because we have got a lot to play for this season.”
He added: “We have some fantastic players and some of the bigger teams in Europe are going to want them. We need to focus on our job, let the people talk the talk and do what we can do on the pitch.”
Morgan also admitted it was disappointing to see some players leave the club: “I suppose it’s to be expected especially after the season we had and I suppose teams trying to poach our better players is part and parcel of the job”.
