NPFL Round Up: Leaders Wikki Stay Top Despite Loss; Pillars Thrash Abia; IfeanyiUbah Hold 3SC

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Wikki Tourists was defeated for the first time in six games following a 2-0 loss against Plateau United in a matchday 24 fixture at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Sunday.

Despite a two-nil loss at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos, the Tourists kept top spot, though their lead has now been cut to just two points.

Plateau United toiled and toiled before substitutes Daddy Francis and Anaya Ogbonna scored a goal each in the space of eight minutes to secure the full points for the Jos club, who still remain in the drop zone.

Abdulrahman Bashir’s first-half goal ensured that Nasarawa United defeated Niger Tornadoes.

Tornadoes would have themselves to blame as Jackson Daniel missed a spot kick before the break after Samson Gbadebo was sent off for a foul on Usman Bashir in his penalty area.

Dele Olorundare was the hero for Sunshine Stars in the absence of Okiki Afolabi, who has dumped the club for an offer abroad. Olorundare scored twice within five minutes in the second half to put out the fight in MFM FC.

The Akure club are gradually climbing up the standings as they are now fifth with 35 points.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) blew a two-goal lead against FC Ifeanyiubah at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. Ebitimi Agogu and Afolabi Wahab scored for 3SC before Tamen Medrano and Onyebuchi Ajunwa came off the bench to equalise inside the final 10 minutes to earn FC Ifeanyiubah a first away point since early March.

FC Ifeanyiubah finished the game with 10 players after their captain Elu Wilson was sent off for a second offence with five minutes to time.

Kano Pillars were ruthless as they ran over Abia Warriors 5-0 to go fourth in the standings with 36 points. Rabiu Ali scored twice while a goal each from Rasaq Adegbite, Bala Zakka and Nafiu Kabuga completed the big win for the Kano club.
