W/Cup: Nigeria's Tough Group Will Bring Out The Best In Our Players – Garba Lawal

| |

Former Nigeria World Cup star Garba Lawal believes the tough World Cup qualifying group the country have found themselves in will bring out the best in them.

The Super Eagles have been drawn with Africa’s No 1 team Algeria, Cameroon, who have qualified for seven World Cups, and Zambia for a spot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“It will be very, very tough, but I like the draw because we now know we have to prepare very well for the task ahead,” said Lawal, who featured at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups.

“In our playing days we looked forward to coming up against the best teams and players because we wanted to test ourselves. I expect the current team to also relish playing in this qualifying group.

“I would rather lose to Algeria than to lose to Chad.”
