Real Madrid soccer superstar and three-time world player of the year, Cristiano Ronaldo, has become a brand ambassador for mobile phone brand Nubia.

In a one-year deal reportedly worth US$4.47 million, Ronaldo will become the face of the Nubia smartphone. The Real Madrid forward will help to grow the presence of the company in Europe, North America and Africa.

The deal is the second time in recent months that a global soccer superstar has partnered with a Chinese telecommunications brand, after Ronaldo’s career-long rival Lionel Messi became the face of Huawei in a two-year deal said to be worth US$13.4 million.

Ronaldo will star in this year’s Uefa Champions League final, as Real Madrid face off against city rivals Atletico Madrid in Milan on 28th May, before captaining Portugal at the Uefa European Championships in France.
